I want to move out of this position and learn more about inspection. However, majority of my in-house training has been to become a proficient operator/technician. Through my company I went through a GDT course and have had in-house training on Plate inspection, Blue light, and CMM. This is why I'm trying to collect all the information I can.
This is just my fundamental opinion and I am probably wrong because I don't know what I am talking about.Īs you seem to be knowledgeable with GOM, what kind of training have you had with GOM? Recommendations? Our lead man on GOM is phenomenal but my company seems to me to be reluctant to train new guys to the level of the top CMM/Bluelight inspectors. This is where you have to learn work-arounds and be more creative (vectors, trig, datum creation, etc). However, its not great at inspecting complex individual features. The way I understood the software was that it is really designed to be a surface comparison software (what I mean is making colormaps, ie its really good at inspecting GDT call-outs). However, my experience with it is limited to scanning rather than inspection side. This is because the software seems less buggy than PC-DMIS.
I never thought of using GOM that way or thought of it under-developed.
